He grabs my hands and tries to pull me close, but I’m not budging. I plant my feet and refuse to move. “Unhand me!” He immediately releases me, and I fall back against the door with an oomph! He reaches forward to help steady me, but I bat his hands away.

He retreats with his arms raised. “Please, Shelby, I can’t stand it when you’re mad at me.”

I narrow my eyes and glare at him. Who does he think he’s fooling? “What the hell are you talking about? You live to make me mad.” True story. He can rile me up like no one else and takes sadistic pleasure in doing so.
